Tottenham Hotspur hosts Crvena Zvezda in a game from Group B
Tottenham Hotspur hosts Crvena Zvezda in a game from Group B from the UEFA Champions League. We will take a trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in order to take a look at this match in our Champions League predictions.
This is not the season Tottenham fans expected after the club’s Champions League final last season. They expected that the team will improve even more, but now Spurs are in something like a crisis. They are 7th in the Premier League, being 13 points behind the leader, while in the same time they are also third in their Champions League group with just one point won so far.
It’s not a lie that some people are starting to doubt the manager Mauricio Pochettino. Until recently he was looking untouchable at the position, but now it could be a different deal for the Argentine tactician. In their last five games in all competitions Tottenham won just once, which is surely not good enough.
During the week Spurs offered another dissapointment to their fans. They hosted Premier League’s weakest team Watford at their own ground, but they only won a point after a 1-1 draw.
Crvena Zvezda are in a better position in Group B of the Champions League, being second with 3 points. The Serbians lost their first game in the group against Bayern Munich, but in the second one they achieved a win at home against Olympiakos. Until the 62th minute the Greek team had advantage in the result, but Zvezda turned the game around with goals from Vulic, Milunovic and Boakye.
For Tottenham it’s going to be crucial to record a first win in the Champions League for the season. If they don’t beat Crvena Zvezda, their situation in the group could get complicated. In our Champions League predictions we regard the English side as a favourite, but have in mind that they are not in their best shape.
