Celtic hosts AIK in a first leg from the Europa League playoffs

Celtic hosts AIK in a first leg from the Europa League playoffs. This match is going to be played on Thursday at the Celtic Parc in Glasgow. Let’s take a look in our Europa League predictions.

Last week Celtic suffered a huge dissapointment in Europa, shockingly being eliminated from the Champions League by the Romanian side CFR Cluj. The first game in Romania ended with a 1-1 draw, which gave the Scottish team an even bigger chance to progress.

But everything went wrong in the second leg in Glasgow, when Celtic sensationally suffered a 3-4 defeat. James Forrest, Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie scored for the hosts, but Neil Lennon’s boys conceded too many goals and said goodbye to the Champions League.

Few days ago Celtic progressed in the Scottish League Cup, although they needed extra time against Dunfermline Athletic at home. James Forrest was the hero for Celtic, scoring a winning goal in the 114th minute. Before this, Michael Johnston and Thomas Beadling scored for the two teams during the regular time.

AIK reached the Europa League playoffs after beating the Moldovian side Sheriff. The crucial game was the first one in Tiraspol, which AIK won with 2-1. Sheriff’s Andrej Lukic scored himself an own goal, while AIK’s Kolbeinn Sightorsson doubled the visitors’ lead. Jury Kendysh scored Sheriff’s only goal in the match.

The second leg in Solna ended with a 1-1 draw, which was enough for AIK to progress. Nabil Bahoui opened the score for the Swedish team, while Gabrijel Boban equalised for the visitors. Sheriff needed one more goal in order to take the game to extra time, but it didn’t happen.

These are our Europa League predictions of the playoff game between Celtic and AIK. The Scottish team is struggling since the start of the season, but let’s see if AIK can use this in their favour.
